Wow. That's tough. I wish you the best and I hope it all works out well in due course.

I think if you can't move, find an extended stay place for a week and then go back on the weekends. Killeen has plenty of those since it's a military town. Because it's a four hour commute (two to Killeen and two back to DFW) and not to mention, we're talking about Interstate 35 here. Good luck.

And add child sitting to the mix? Unless this jobs pays $250,000/yr or more your going to have to a) move closer to the job; or b) get a job closer to the place you currently live.

BTW if you can afford the daily commute then YES you can afford to move.

What kind of work do you do? Unless you do something really specialized, I find it odd that nowhere in DFW would have a job for you.

You need to report the earnings when you make your call. You will probably be instructed to call TWC and you will have to explain the training. It may stop your UI for that week, but since it isn't long-term, it shouldn't stop them for good.

You really get paid to commute that kind of distance? At 340 miles a day at say $0.40/mile that is $136/day. Even if it was at a lesser rate that is still pretty astronomical. Ever wonder why we have to drill for oil in ever last pristine part of the earth? If it was my company I would offer zero compensation for travel expenses and force you to make a more rational choice.

Wow! Paid or not, that commute is going to burn you out quickly. I am not judging you, but have you considered when you are going to get to see your child with all of that commuting? There must be a better solution.

I hope they never do that I would probably have to give my child up for adoption or have them put in foster care because I wouldn't be able to afford food.

Yeah but 85k a year on a car means you need a new one every two years, not to mention huge expenses for maintenance and repairs. Plus being on the road 6 hours a day means you have to pay for all that child care.

And as an employer why would I pay Employee A huge travel expenses when Employee B is willing to move?
