LOL

Don't worry, Cathy sis...I ain't gonna argue anymore tonight at any rate. Or likely even tomorow or Saturday. I understand they are gonna give me some laughing gas and a pill or two to get thru this dental stuff. So I might be out of it for 48 hours or so.

I might be singing Dixie and the Eyes of Texas tomorow, but from what I hear I might not remember doing any of it! LOL

My pre-instructions are to eat well tonight, because you ain't gonna feel like it for a few days.

Soooo? To all my good Texas Regular friends? Y'all take care and everybody have a good one!

LOL!! on the arguing!

So NOT fun on the dental work--my last dental appointment lasted a few hours, and I had all of my old (8 or so) fillings replaced with the new white resin--all at once, because I'm such a CHICKEN that I wouldn't have gone back for the rest of them, so I asked him to do the whole mess at once!

Hang in there, and take care of yourself. No, you won't feel like eating tomorrow for sure!

Like: 1) Texas landscape; 2) At least 5 cities with each with a different vibe; 3) Blue skies; 4) Laid back country feel even near major cities; 5) decent housing; 6) lots of open space;7) nice airports in all major cities; 8) San Antonio's theme parks such as Sea World and Fiesta;9) tons of out door activities

Dislike: 1)Government is very conservative; 2) high property taxes; 3) resistance to change; 4) white boys club mentality for the best jobs and contracts; 5) lack of diversity in some towns (Houston and Dallas excluded; 6) you have to drive 6 plus hours to get out of state;7) jobs pay less; 8) intensely hot summers

Texans also do not like criticism. They prefer you do not say anything negative about Texas. Tell me I am wrong.

Well, SOME Texans might not like that some have negative opinions of Texas.

This native Texan could not care less what others think of Texas. Out-of-staters opinions just don't matter to me. Who cares? If someone doesn't like it, there are 49 other states...!

The thing I get from this forum is something that frankly I never picked up in 30+ years living in Texas, i.e. that so many Texans are incapable of any intelligent capacity to reflect upon their state's problems and come up with reasonable and socially fair ideas for remedies. I truly think and hope that the postings on this forum aren't representative of the majority of Texans. As I recently pointed out in a post directed to Texas Horse Lady, I doubt that most of us really espouse such facile ideas - left or right - in real life (RL). It's actually much easier to talk about these issues in RL conversation than to take the time and effort to flesh out complex ideas and realities in writing over the internet. I'm very much guilty of that same laziness or indulgence.

I realised today that I'm not aware of other native Texan expats posting on this forum. It gives me cause to examine why that is. Just an admission of my own human frailty and my continuing involvement with Texas, whether or not that is neurotic.

You're absolutely right, but I wasn't aware that Texans were unique in that regard. No one likes to hear their home town/state criticized.
