I make this drive all the time. The most dangerous thing of the drive is falling asleep from boredom

I've never done it, but I'd be afraid of running out of gas in West Texas.

Why? There are stations all along the way. Just know where they are and fill up accordingly. El Paso, Sierra Blanca, Van Horn, Kent, Fort Stockton, Ozona, Sonora, etc.

If you're referring to US 90, you've still got stations from Van Horn to Sanderson.

I don't think you will have any problem, or run out of gas on I-10 in W. Texas. There are gas stations at every exit.

The one thing I would advise against is driving at night due to deer.

BadHornet beat me to it. I make this drive all the time too, round trip. I was going to say the only concern might be dying of boredom on the stretch between Texas Canyon and Kerrville.

It's a loooong stretch!

Danger of not finding any good radio stations or any at all.

Once saw a meteorite fall to earth on this route. Also smelled greasewood. Kind of different. Kind of nice.

True, but at least the Border Patrol checkpoints on either side of Del Rio will wake you up.

The biggest hazard you could encounter is a speeding ticket. The Highway Patrol loves to write tickets on those long straight stretches of highway.

I hear that the speeding limit has been increased to 80 mph out there now.
