I'm hoping you guys can give me some quick advice as I may have to act quickly here soon. There are two places i'm looking at for me and my wife right now for a job relocation to this area. Plaza Royale apartments (700 Bales road, mcallen) has great deal for us at $600/month and includes a good amount of amentities. Financially this would be an ideal place and from what I hear it's near a lot in mcallen. We also right now have the opportunity for a 2bd/2bth duplex in edinburg and it's $700/month. My clinic that i'm gonna be at is in mission which I believe the drive from edinburg is 20-30min. The duplex is (2202 candlelight st, edinburg). I had one person so far go by the plaza royale and the duplex. She said that edinburg neighborhood was really nice and the plaza royale was ok but when she asked her sister in law who had lived here for some time she said the plaza royale neighbor hood is kinda "risque" or "ghettoish". I was hoping someone could either back these facts or rebutle which may make me rethink the plaza royale. As of now i think I may be going with the edinburg but I have to send deposit tomorrow. thank you so much

Actually both locations seem fine to me. The Bales road location is near several upscale neighborhoods (The Country Club and others) , it has easy access to 10th St. and would be an easier and quicker drive to Mission. The Edinburg location is right off of McColl and Jackson Rd and seems pretty good as well. It will be a longer drive to Mission but you may find a good quick route. I would probably choose the Edinburg location since it is probably a newer unit in better condition and is also close to shopping, restaurants etc. I don't know first hand but the neighborhood seems good to me, does not seem "ghetto" at all. Why don't you try google maps so that you can actually see the place?

GGuerra, thank you so much. This is exactly what I needed to hear!! Were gonna go with the Plaza Royale as financially this is ideal and we would be near the bigger city and can get acquainted better here. Thanx again for the information.
