What is the best downtown in Texas? I searched through the forums and I couldn't find any thread with this topic and I think it deserves its own thread. This is about everything from liveliness, to night life, walkability and residential. Which downtown is more livable as well as a great place to work, shop and play? In other words, which one delivers the best all around in each category? This is not about skylines. It's about things to do, entertainment, shopping, jobs, night life, quality of living, parks, etc. etc. Discuss!

Perhaps, what he/she meant was to discuss what makes Fort Worth downtown great. I'd like to hear people's comments.

Personally, I think that San Antonio and Austin's downtowns are one of the best's in Texas. I'm not too familiar with Fort Worth's downtown and I would certainly love to hear about its peculiarities and why it gets referred to quite often on here.

When I think of a good downtown I picture it offering a little bit of everything. Houston and Dallas do it to an extent but they don't seem as lively as San Antonio's or Austin's. From what I've heard Fort Worth's seems to be a blast. How does it compare to the nightlife in downtown Austin? Or to San Antonio's history? Houston's or Dallas' residential? Shopping? Entertainment? That sort of thing.

I voted Fort Worth. I went there once and it was exactly what a downtown should be like. Houston really moved up with the addition of Discover Green. But I still prefer Fort Worth.

Who ever voted Houston needs to be slapped.
It's worse than Dallas' ...and Dallas' is nothing that great, let me tell you.

The only real contenders (as of now) in this are San Antonio, Austin, and MAYBE Fort Worth.
