I guess Dallas is drier. So snakes shouldn't like there. But houston is much humidity and warm. So there are more snakes in Houston?

If there are many snakes in houston, I may be scared and will stop moving. I really don't want to see snakes suddenly when I walk on the road or walk in the yard after dinner.
I've lived in Houston for 44 years, and I've only seen a few garter snakes. I'm sure there are some somewhere by the water, but it's not much of a problem. I wouldn't be moving to Sweetwater though. I knew someone who lived there and they have to look out their door before going outside in case there are rattle snakes. Everyone has to have snake catchers on their porches. Plus they have the occasional tarantula. And their lizards are not the common small green ones like we get. They're huge with big spikes on them. It's definitely a rugged place.

Personally, I' am not really worried about Alligators too much. They don't scare me but I do respect them. With snakes, however, completely different story; don't like them one bit.
I've seen far more alligators than snakes in the Houston area. They're a lot easier to see though.

We live in a suburban neighborhood outside of Tyler in northeast Texas. We live across from a creek. Yesterday working in the yard, we ran across two snakes - both small, Texas brown snakes (harmless). We simply moved them across the street because we didn't want to hurt them with our power tools.

We find at least one harmless grass or garter or brown snake in our yard every year but have never found a venomous snake in our yard or on our property, even when we lived out in the country on 20 acres.
