With this never-ending stream of above average temperatures we're experiencing, it would almost seem too cruel for us to have another furnace-like summer, right? More than 1/3 of Texas is still in a state of severe drought, so things have to get better before 2012 is up, don't they?

Do you have your fingers crossed for a milder and wetter season, or are you prepared for another long and crippling summer?

I think we're in for another brutal summer like last year.

No, they don't and sadly it doesn't look like they will.

Sure, fingers & toes are crossed, can't hurt to be optimistic.

As to being prepared for another summer like last year, how do you do that? It's bascially a matter of leaving the state or gritting your teeth and enduring it.

My forecast is that we're gonna have a usual summer of a lot of HOT with little to no relief until around November....now back to Dianne with traffic.

They is the moisture... of course hot is the norm for summer however last year was brutal and dry. The good news is that the above avg rainfall to start the year will help keep moisture around thus leading to more of the typical afternoon summer thunderstorms. Therefore, I see an avg Texas summer with temps running about 10 degrees above Hell.

So far we've had rain. I've heard a bit of discussion having to do with the wind turbines slowing things down and heating those areas a bit.

But I have my fingers crossed.

If it's like 2011, I'll spend time crying again because it was so miserable. Truthfully, it can't be possible for two summers in a row to be that brutal. I can only hope anyway. By the way, summer is NEVER mild.

Right, it is always hot. Amarillo is usually a bit milder compared to coming off the Caprock.

Like you, I'm hoping to get a bit more rain this year than last. So far we've had more showers lately than I had hoped.

Weather Channel says that it will be a very strong El Nino in the Pacific this year which means slightly lower than average temps for the Southern Half of the U.S.
So for Dallas slightly lower than Average still means 90s. lol
