Any input? I want to live near the beach, so Corpus Christi sounds like a great idea. But then again I am not rich, by anyone's standards. Would Loredo still provide a safe environment? If not, any suggestions on other towns in TX that are affordable? Thanks!

You don't have to be rich to live in CC.

The cheapest one bedroom apartment I've found in CC is $1,000. I will need a two, if not three, bedroom. Right now I have a nice three bedroom townhouse with a full basement for under $1,000.. and I like that. Anything more expensive and I'll be barely making it.

Where are you looking? You must be looking at something brand new with top-of-the line amenities. You can rent a 2 or 3 bedroom house for $800-900.

Are you only looking online? You need to get an apartment finder for Corpus Christi or go down there and look. That is the case with any rental search wether it be apartment, townhouse, house or condo. Some cities have better online advertising than others for renting but for the most part you don't even get a snapshot of what is available.

i'm sure with further searching you can find something way less expensive. What I don't understand is why Laredo if you want to be near the beach? Maybe consider other coastal cities like Port Aransas, Padre Island, Brownsville - there are a lot of other smaller cities. Laredo has NO beach, just the Rio Grande.

Homes normally rent for less than an Apartment. I have a friend that lives in Corpus and he only pays $750.00 for his place, and its a 2 bedroom. Nice too.

Yeah Corpus is not a place you have to worry about being rich to live at. Neither is Galveston.. as a matter of fact I think the Texas coast is some of the cheapest coastal areas to live in. And thats a good thing!
