My family's doing a road trip to Dallas & we want to take US-281 instead of the nightmare of I-35. That traffic, plus the news of the fertilizer plant explosion kind of make us want to take 281 instead.

Going over Google Maps, Streetview shows heavy construction on Key Avenue, the main thoroughfare of Lampasas. Is the construction still ongoing or is it over? Just wondering.

Have a great night, everyone!

Didn't notice it when we drove through there 10 days ago. Yes, we also avoid I-35E, and prefer taking a little longer, seeing the small towns and cities along the way.

I went through Lampasas last month. No construction detours that I recall.

Went thru 3-4 months ago & there was construction. (knocked 4 lanes down to 2) This was probably when the pic was taken.

fwiw....it slowed us down....it took us 6 min. to get thru town instead of 4.
