When my grandparents lived in Bellaire until 2007. Williams Tower had this night beam that goes around every 30 seconds at night. I used to sleep in the glass room in the back and that tower would beam right in that room. It's like super bright every 30 seconds. I will never forget that.

It's a beautiful tower, and so is Bank of America Plaza.

thats odd. i could have sworn the beacon was angled upward because when they were talking about building that ~1200 footer in uptown in 2008 some people were saying due to the angle of the beam the new tower might not block it. i dont doubt that you could see light through the window every time it came around though. that thing is BRIGHT.

Downtown Dallas’ tallest building is getting a makeover. The 72-story Bank of America Plaza is being updated with a new entry, lobby areas and remodeling of the retail court. The remodeling also will include upgrades to the signature green lights that outline the Main Street skyscraper. Work crews have already put up construction fences surrounding the office tower. General contractor Turner Construction has parked its construction trailer next door.
That's good news! I'm glad they're going to keep the signature green lighting. That building looks incredible at night and with the new upgraded lighting it should look even better.

As far as BOA Dallas vs Williams Tower goes, that's a tough one for me because I genuinely like the design of both buildings equally. I think the BOA building might be slightly larger in width/depth overall, so to me it generally looks more impressive from a distance. Because of that slight difference I guess I would choose BOA.

It's funny how Dallas and Austin does not have a problem lighting up their buildings at night with some nice lighting colors but Houston just slaps some tacky looking beige christmas lights on top of their buildings. Pisses me off!

Lighting has always been an afterthought in Houston.

For some strange reason Houston prefers a dark skyline. I hate it too.

Yeah but i'm glad that downtown Houston has kept the lights out thing going where those christmas lit buildings don't actually come on until christmas time now. I'd rather it be that way if they aren't going to take the time to illunminate them right. Although, I gotta give Wells Fargo Plaza it's props with the color changing neon around the top. Just wish the other buildings would follow suit.

I really wish Wedge would turn their green lights back on, but its not gonna happen.
