IMO, minorities like ourselves are better off in the liberal mostly white cities like Austin that Houston cheerleaders love to bash for not being "diverse". Being relatively unique and at the same time not subject to as much racism... seems like win/win to me. The lack of a hood culture is a benefit too because it makes you less likely to be stereotyped.

I agree. Houston is large and you can find a job in almost any field, but, you cant deny that energy is a major factor in Houston's economy. If you need a reminder, drive through Pasadena and Baytown.

So is medicine. Drive through TMC for a reminder of that.

I'm a Texas native, and where I'm from we call Houston "the armpit of Texas". Swampy and stinky.

You're from East Texas aren't you? The majority of my family lives in that region, and none of them call Houston that. Speak for no one but yourself.

Which is fine, but unless he has a medical degree, I don't think its of any concern for him.

Just remember that Dallas and Houston are ugly and dirty compared to Raleigh, especially Houston.

Just remember that ZonaZoo has never even been to Texas, so he has absolutely no clue what he's talking about.

Uh... You must be mixing up Houston with Baytown or Port Arthur.

Urban Dictionary: Armpit of Texas

It's unfortunate, so many of the state's so-called natives seem to be so poorly educated and inexperienced with regard to the state's largest city.

Default Dallas

I'm an AA female who has lived in Dallas for a year. I like Dallas but I can honestly say I haven't given the night life a chance. I have yet been on one date. I live in Irving where it is heavy populated with hispanics so I'm looking diversity. Please let me know how your trip goes and what area you find interesting. Good luck on your search.
