Cool. So isn't Midland supposed to get it's Space Port license here pretty soon?

Midland was caught flat-footed in the last bust, and some wish to avoid that in the upcoming bust. There's always a boom, then a bust...And then another boom, and another bust, in a sector economy. It is good some are thinking ahead.

I most certainly agree we need to diversify as much as possible.

I think I will send this on to the Tyler City Council to again stress to them you've got to spend some bucks if you are going to get new jobs; however, they will remind me that the city property rate is the lowest in the state of any city over 15,000 and lower than most of the rest, at .22 per 100 evaluation. Anyway I think I will send this on...

Today’s boom-towns, places like Midland-Odessa, TX (the two fastest growing metro areas right now because of a major oil/gas boom), can take this lesson to heart. The message learned from Detroit’s example, and Las Vegas now as well, is that communities must not rest on their laurels during the boom times. When your community is thriving, particularly if your economy is fueled primarily by one industry, now is the time to aggressively diversify into other sectors. And it helps to develop a community brand that supports this effort.

Hum...Midland/Odessa has a LONG way to go before it could consider it self diversified. If it wasn't for California and their high taxes, these Space corps wouldn't think twice about Midland. All Midland had to do was offer them a tax break incentive and they was golden. They already had an airport and located in a desert. I'm waiting for the larger corporations to head West.
