What would be your recommendations for the most upscale restaurants in Fredericksburg (as much as anything there is upscale). I've been to Navajo Grill before and thought it was pretty decent, but it will be closed during my visit.

Thanks in advance!

Sadly, FBG doesn't have a lot in the way of fine dining. The Navajo Grill is really about the only "fancy" place in town.

Yeah, we usually stay in places just outside of town and do most of our cooking, but my husband and I are going for my birthday, and we were looking to do something a little different this time around by staying near Main Street and having more availability of restaurants. I am probably overthinking it, and just need to stick with the casual places and maybe enjoy some German fare.

We were just down there last weekend, and we ended up eating BBQ in Blanco!

Check this place out: Hangar Hotel it comes very well recommended by pilot friends!

August E's had great food, but we had problems using a groupon with them.

no good restaurants? Really? Just off the top of my head -- Otto's, Vaudeville, and August E's are all phenomenal.

Been to that one. Doesn't have the ambiance I am looking for, but good food, so a good suggestion.

I made reservations at August E's. Reviews seem mixed on wait and food service time, so I am keeping my fingers crossed.

We have gone to Fredericksburg about 8-10 times over the past 15 years, but we rarely eat in town, hence my query.

Thanks for all the great suggestions, everyone.
