Preston Center, which is technically "Dallas city limits," is the closest to an urban environment in the Park Cities area as it gets. It's spotty, but with the proper sidewalk infrastructure, you can create a more pedestrian friendly environment:

Walkability is relative. A trek for others tends to be a cake walk for me.

With my last trip to DFW I explored the PCs on foot and was surprised by the number of pedestrians I was sharing the sidewalks with. Having light rail a few blocks down makes it even better, though I know most don't take advantage of it.
