Sure. Colorado’s income taxes are a flat 4.55% of your post-federal-tax income. Considering the standard senior deduction, OP and wife would have to make in the $75K range or more for that to outweigh Texas’ property taxes. If that were the case, I can’t imagine they’d feel priced out of the Front Range.

Ok, if were taking about metro area $500K will buy a 2000 Square foot house in Aurora.

That said youd need to lower the number for Amarillo. Houses for that size are available starting at $175K but mainly around $200K on the West side of town near I-40 and Soncy.
