Why Texas Is No Longer Feeling Miraculous
By Robert Parker
Call it the season of Texas’ discontent... Texas’ woes are interconnected.

Yes, many of us who would like to "downsize" can't. It costs you more to buy smaller than what I paid for my current home.

Why does California always have to come up in the Texas threads? The article posted has nothing to do CA and doesn't even mention CA once. It has to do with the Texas economy and to a lesser extent politics.

The minute anyone posts anything leaning to the negative side about Texas, people on CD blame Californians.

Take ownership Texans, quit blaming California!!!

That's what is happening to my parents. My dad is from Texas (Austin area) , and is about to retire and move back to Texas since he loves it. He and my mom just want something small, but he was shocked when he started looking at home prices in the Austin suburbs. He couldn't believe how expensive it's gotten.

Texas is neither miraculous nor a losing place. The truth resides in the middle. But we shouldn't be surprised by NY throwing stones our way. Like they are going to understand (or even try to understand) the state. HAHAHA!

Though from the Lone Star state, I happened to live in one of their glorified states in their graphic (one of those dark purple states). Economic growth? Yeah, right. The reality is, where I am sucks compared to Texas. I'm not going to rely on some slanted, bogus data. Things are stagnant where I am, and thriving - based on what I've seen - in Texas.

I'm not believing this article, and the sorry sack of sh*t it's trying to sell. Richard Parker's probably an uptight bastard anyway, with an axe to grind, and misinformation to peddle. It's the perfect rag of b.s. to ignore and toss away.

The "libs" aren't the ones being corrupt in the statehouse and also trying to create a theocracy which has ran off who knows how much business from the state. The whole demonizing liberal minded people is really old. We aren't the ones that stuck the state with Greg Abbott, Dan Patrick, Ken Paxton, Ted Cruz and the country with Trump.

so rising home prices and having more equity is a bad thing? do you feel the same why about Trump and your 401K? i bet you don't - growth is not a bad thing and not all not even most califi are libs - we are leaving because of the commie state of mind here

Don't use calif as a exsuse because if its not class's it will ne Ny or others moving in

use your power of the vote to keep left wing crazy getting power -more conservatives the better don't assume all of us transplants are leafy progressive liberals - you would be wrong -

in my circle those of us leaving are very conservative - and looking forward to conservative elected officials

What, you say? Arguably the most notoriously liberal newspaper in America is publishing an obviously slanted article railing against a reliably conservative state? I'm shocked, I tell you...absolutely SHOCKED!

Someone better start telling all the people moving to Texas and starting posts here asking for advice to just go back to California, or New Jersey, or Seattle. All the reasons you thought about why you had to get the hell out were bunk so don't believe your own lying eyes; The NYT has now enlightened you.
