Winning 3 of the top ten counties for new cases / per capita in the entire USA is pretty good for 'spread-out-Texas'!

Consider the demographics (age / density / vulnerability) for those top 10 counties and this is really quite predictable, and avoidable.

ZERO is a reasonable objective to meet, and far more populous and vulnerable regions of the world took care of that months ago. We had such a bonus of lag-time and available information. I hope this does not result in a Texas lock-down (unable to travel to other states). What an unnecessary crisis for businesses and schools. Looking at empty theaters and clubs last night. Poof Gone, Lives, Jobs, revenue, taxes, entertainment.

The last post I made was not per capita. None of the major counties in Texas are in the top 50 US for per capita infection. Texas does have some smaller counties in that group.

What a winner! (winer?)

Texas lieutenant governor says he's done listening to Dr. Fauci: 'I don’t need his advice'
https://news.yahoo.com/texas-lieuten...194536074.html
“He doesn’t know what he’s talking about. We haven’t skipped over anything. The only thing I’m skipping over is listening to him.”
...as in meeting Texas meeting the required criteria for systematic reopening?

Mighty fine piece of work there

Counties with 20,000 people or more with over 0.5 new cases per 1000 inhabitants in the last week, ranked by cases per 1000 inhabitants. Major metropolitan counties in bold.

Yell, AR: 1.25
Grenada, MS: 0.84
McDonald, MO: 0.83
Hendry, FL: 0.76
Hardee, FL: 0.71
Imperial, CA: 0.68
Wayne, MS: 0.66
Navajo, AZ: 0.65
Colquitt, GA: 0.65
Orange, FL: 0.65 (Orlando)
Nueces, TX: 0.63
Jefferson Davis, LA: 0.62
Macon, TN: 0.59
Charleston, SC: 0.59
Marshall, AL: 0.58
Washington, AR: 0.58
Crittenden, AR: 0.57
Galveston, TX: 0.57
Duval, FL: 0.57 (Jacksonville)
Maricopa, AZ: 0.56 (Phoenix)
McKinley, NM: 0.55
Miami-Dade, FL: 0.55 (Miami)
Starr, TX: 0.55
Natchitoches, LA: 0.54
Georgetown, SC: 0.53
Columbiana, OH: 0.52
Chambers, TX: 0.52
Washington, MS: 0.51
Hillsborough, FL: 0.51 (Tampa)
Hays, TX: 0.51
Mower, MN: 0.51
Tift, GA: 0.50
Oceana, MI: 0.50

So Texas isn't doing as bad as Florida and Arizona for now, since those states have over 0.5 cases per 1000 inhabitants in the last week in the majority of their most populous counties.

Still, despite not being huge metropolitan counties, it's not like Hays, Nueces and Galveston counties are some tiny rural counties that are a drop in the bucket in the grand scheme of things.

Dan Patrick has been recognized as a total IDIOT for decades now. I wouldn't take the least account of anything he says if he weren't by some bizarre chance in a position of power.

Well, I'm glad my husband and I have an assortment of masks. We figured this was coming.

Dear Leader can't be pleased. A major red state governor believing in science and statistics over hunches and conspiracy theories. What's the country coming to?</SARCASM>

I am shocked. Enforcement will be the big issue. Sheriffs outside of major metros may not enforce it. If they enforce it, they will **** off the neighbors and friends.

Means nothing, anyone that have problem breathing is exempt from it. Under ADA one is not required to provide any proof. People will continue ignoring this unconstitutional order.
