How about Oklahoma then? Go north 1 mile, they had more heat and power than us. Their temperatures dropped to -5 degrees.

How about the Texas Panhandle? They are dealing with the same storm as the rest of Texas. They had 0-10% power outage. They are on a different grid.

Yep Texas is actually the state more prone to natural disasters. It's a huge state that covers a lot of ground so I think it's common sense that we'll experience all kinds of natural disasters. The biggest obvious problem with Texas is it's response to these natural disasters. And how the state and city governments(looking at you Houston) way of doing business has impacted the way we respond to these disasters. I'm getting tired of hearing "We'll get through this because we're Texans blah blah blah" anytime there's a disaster with catastrophic damage that could have been avoided.

She was the judge when bond issue was passed. She's a total incompetent.

She's also the incompetent who added 14,000 COVID cases to Houston's total in one month because the county was keeping track by hand and got so far behind she told them to dump all the reports in one month. That was on Channel 11.

You do know where all the money to be spent protecting against such an event will come from, don't you? If you don't, I recommend an acquaintance with Econ 101 and the Infernal Revenue Service.

Where did it come from in Arkansas and Louisiana where their electric rates are more than a penny per kwh cheaper? But Texas will probably implement winterizing as a free market private enterprise that will allow corporations to get rich off of it and cost the consumers 5x what it should cost.

It's easy to quit drinking. I've done it hundreds of times...

Well, it's not a political item, but I can assure you that a generator is in my future, just as soon as they re-appear in stores (like August, probably).

There was a comedy skit years back, maybe Chris Rock or a movie where he was bashing insurance saying it's for "in case s*** happens" and getting your money back when s*** doesn't happen.

This is basically the GOP mindset in things like this. If COULD happen but it's never gonna happen so we don't need to do anything. Then when BOOM it does happen their constituents who continually vote for these yahoos are up in arms about their freezing, flooding, destroyed house/property, etc.

My coworkers who are very retrumplicans are anti vaccine, still think it's a hoax but LET one of them actually get sick with it and they're then first to run to the ER begging for medical attention....thought it was a hoax Ashlyn

You could compare it to hurricane matters and relief. Not as political as one might think. The trains just roll along the same before as after. Gonna have to find political gossip and drama somewhere else, for the most part.

In the end, these types of matters just strengthen us to see bounds and extremes that occasionally come along. We all end up benefitting by toughening and strengthening. We get smarter and more prepared, so something to be thankful for.
