As a Latino/Hispanic person myself who grew up on the border, I do not think so. In fact, I'll go on to say that all those around me, including my family, are very Conservative! Mexican/Americans are usually very Conservative on most issues if you take the Republican/Democrat names off.

Most are also anti-illegal immigration because they've seen what it does to jobs on the border towns. However, they vote Democratic for the goodies they get from the government. If you wrote a series of questions for them to answer that exposes their character, beliefs, and traditions, it would come out on the Conservative side. Also most just vote Democratic because their parents did, and their elder relatives. What the current population needs to know is that Democrats used to love this country too, like in the days of Kennedy. That Democratic party no longer exists, it has morphed into a party who hates white people, and hates the United States and wants to bring everyone down to their level... I guess because they cannot manage to get ahead?

Spot on.
It is the democrat party that has become the radicalized faction in politics, but the republicans have been holding their hands behind the scenes.
The “bread & circuses” mentality of the masses will be our downfall.

No kidding. Now this quack doctor in New York is saying that Whiteness is a malignant, parasitic disease:

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...condition.html

'Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it'----George Santayana

The Nazi's also thought that Jews were parasites. The Left tears down statues, rewrites history, tries to take down wealthy people, and blames ills of society on white people, just as Nazi's did to the Jews. Antifa and BLM destroying property, burning down buildings, looting and police do nothing... Kristallnacht. This is happening now, in increments, in front of our eyes.

I think it's quite plausible that people of longtime Texas Latino/Hispanic could have conservative tendencies. It's just that why wouldn't it have shown up more dramatically in past elections? This election, there was a clear potential threat to locals' pocketbooks due to policies and attitudes being advocated by Democrats regarding energy, which had always been more muted in the past.

This.

Traditionally Hispanics in Texas have been very pro-immigration reform and that outweighed things like gun control or energy policy. But that scale may tip. Still its important to recognize that Hispanics are a diverse group.

1) Urban Hispanics tend to vote for Democrats because they are more recent arrivals into the US and take on the political culture of the city which are blue.

2) Hispanics in places like the Valley and Corpus have mostly been here for generations and have more distance (culturally) with the homeland. They can be influenced by local culture more.

3) Hispanics from places like Cuba and Venezuela will be far more likely to vote for Republicans because of the association with liberal politics and communism/socialism. Hispanics from places like Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and Central America will be more likely to vote for Democrats because the places they immigrate to tend to be heavily liberal and their nationality's arrival into the US tends to be more recent.

This is the best write up so far. I couldn't figure out how someone Latino who is seriously religious could possibly vote Dem until I realized it's hard to compete with Santa Clause and free stuff.

I don't know about others, but at least my family, siblings, cousins, uncles, aunts, etc. cannot ever rationalize their choices. They all hate/hated President Trump, but when I asked them to name five things he did that affected them negatively, crickets. After a while, I say 'okay, name three'. Then name calling, but no reason. Finally I say okay, just one. Still, they can't name one single thing that he did, or was responsible for, to hate him for it. Finally, someone mentions sending illegal immigrants back home, or not allowing them in, and then I have to inform them that those are laws, mostly written in the 1960s when we last had comprehensive immigration reform. Then I am asked if I want another beer.

Yeah, when people say "Texas is turning blue" I just roll my eyes. It's becoming purple-ish and will probably be that way for a long time, with that purple leaning toward red.

I don't care about politics at all, if the government isn't going to provide me with anything to help me improve my life then I just want to be left alone.

To me politics have become like professional sports where people just pick a team to become emotionally invested in and go against the opposing team, there's no real purpose to it.
