I decided to clear my head after some family struggles and was looking for a dry desert like place to relax within the state for about two weeks and have decided on Alpine. My only concern, being that im a city boy,and Alpine,TX is a small town, will they be unwelcoming to outsiders?

You'll be fine as long as you pay your way and don't get into a political discussion. Small towns rely on tourism. Go enjoy yourself.

While you are there go visit all the things to do nearby like Big Bend and Fort Davis. Locals will hardly know you exist.

Unless you plan on running around dressed oddly or wearing a Biden shirt 24-7, you should have an amazing time, as this is a great part of our state that is not crowded or congested.

Go enjoy and visit Fort Davis and the McDonnell Observatory and enjoy the funky food trucks in Marfa while you are there.

Sunsets in that part of the state are the best...no doubt.

Alpine is welcoming and fun, just respect the locals and enjoy the difference... it is their daily life.
2 weeks is a long stay in Alpine, likely 5-7 days is plenty. Depends on how long you plan to stay in Big Bend, or nearby State park, and if you have other recreation methods (as in off-road trips / hiking / kayak...)

Depending on your route / transportion... (are you camping or renting a room?)
Consider adding a few days in some of the State parks in Hill country. Many people find peace and solice on the Sabinal and Frio Rivers.

ElPaso and Carlsbad are each within a day's drive from Alpine.
Mexico crossing could be another option.

The border to Boquillas, Mexico through BBNP is still closed due to COVID.

I figured op would prefer a Presidio /OJ crossing. Boquillas is not much of a trip / mexico experience for a day trip.
