Texas is turning into California at an alarming rate, all they are doing is making everything here expensive. Houses use to be cheap, taxes where lower than what they are now. All of the major cities are turning blue and I truly believe that Austin will become the next San Francisco. Eventually the cost of living will be too expensive and people will start to move out of the state. Only time will tell.

It is very sad. Unfortunately, I recently moved to Kansas since I could not afford a decent apartment in or near the large cities in Texas.

According to the 2019 Census report, 82k moved from California to Texas. Texas has a population of 29 million. If that number triples because of companies like Tesla coming in, it would still only amount to 1%. Home prices are up all over the country.

The short answer: Not even close
One thing that article doesn’t really say is how they are determining where they are moving from. Are they determining this by their previous residency address or their place of birth? For example, if it were their place of birth, I would technically be among that 52% as I was born in FortWorth. But I actually ‘moved’ to Austin from Atlanta GA.
California is a very transient state. Plenty of people moved there who weren’t from there originally, then for multitudes of reasons relocated as well, and Texas is one of California’s most sought after relocation destinations.
There are plenty of others too but Texas catches more of their transients by a fair margin.

I would imagine it's where they're moving from. Ultimately even if it's more than other states on a percentage basis, it's still a drop in the bucket in regards to it's impact to the population of Texas as a whole.
Also, that 82k figure is just outflows from CA to Texas. I think something like 30k went from Texas to CA, so the net is like 50k.
