Converse Judson is always tough. Same with Plano and Southlake Carroll. And Pflugerville should be dominant among all Austin-area teams. It should be noted that Cy Ridge is the Houston Cy-Fair district's newest high school, and that's scary whenever a new school cracks the state's Top 20. And since I'm from the Arlington area, that's amazing what a long way Bowie has come in just a few years.

As usual - 4 of top 5 are in the Dallas Area - always lose great teams before we go to playoffs in other parts of the state - at least it's not as bad as when 3 of the 6 disrticts teams in East Texas Longview, Tyler Lee, Lufkin were in the top 10(usually top 5) in the state polls for 4 to five years in the late 90's to about 2004 - after realignment in the early 2000's when they were power houses - they had to play each other twice in DISTRICT - beat up just getting to the playoff's and guess what knocked themselves out of the top ten - because, gee, somebody had to lose - bet no relignment like that will ever be required again - where teams play each other TWICE in football - we didn't have the political clout to prevent it - but after two years of legal "TALK" it didn't happen again.

Those Dallas metroplex schools i.e. Southlake Carroll and Euless Trinity have become powers and have stopped those Permian Basen schools from reaching the title games on the Western Brackets over the last 7 or 8 yrs now ??

On the east side of the state in the Eastern Brackets Converse Judson is always a powerhouse out of San Antonio as is Austin Westlake and usually Katy out of the Houston area is up there every year.

Converse Judson isn't. That's a very dense, blue-collar area. The secret there is a huge student body at the high school, which gives the team a larger pool of athletes to draw from. The school board waited until there were enough students enrolled to justify building 3 high schools before they got around to opening the second one!

BTW, I predict that Smithson Valley at #18 will go farther in the playoffs than Judson this year. Judson was moved into a district where they'll now have to make long road trips to Victoria and Corpus Christi. I think they'll be less well-prepared to go far in the playoffs than they were in 26-5A.

Yes, Skyline has been in the first or second round of the playoffs lately, but to my knowledge, not in the top 10 in the last 15 years, I think I would know, Tyler Lee would have to play them, which they did last year and Skyline stomped us Skyline was good, glad to see that !!!- not a good Tyler team for the last 3 years after winning state in 2004.

Oh South Lake should allways be good. They have got to be the best team money can buy. They have personal assistants for each player as needed they are coached to play highschool ball since birth - to learn the system being used by South Lake - and of course the best facilities to train to increase strenght etc. of anyone - the Dallas Cowboys have used there facilities in the past. For that reason I would never support South Lake in Texas, they SHOULD WIN! Yes many schools are from the higher income areas around the metro-plex and Katy in Houston - or as the Plano schools go - well over 5,000 students to choose from...
