I have to agree about Texas and Louisiana doing the nations's dirty work per offshore wells and refineries.....not only does this allow the precious Florida and California coasts to stay unspoilt for locals and tourists, but they also get to feel superior while Tex/Louis. keeps the nation running......shut off those "filthy" refineries and watch the nation shut down......The rest of the nation should get down collectively on their knees and thank both states for obscuring their own air and views so the rest of the nation not only can HAVE views, but can survive economically, and get their car out of the driveway!

Better yet lets just pull out since those folks don't want to pull their weight. Fla can have Disneyworld and MGM, Cali can have their Napa wines (if the vineyards don't burn down), and Hollywierd. And little ol' Texas will just chug along here with the 8th largest economy in the world.

Just highlighting the absurd by being absurd here. I am quite disappointed in the many who refuse to be responsible with our energy decisions and its national implications!

Yep as they used to say, Texas should secede and join OPEC.

Texans,
Thank you all for doing more single-handedly to keep oil prices down than any state in America COMBINED. Thank you for having the sense to provide your own people with thousands of off-shore drilling jobs so Americans and people worldwide can run their cars, manufacture a by-product called plastic, warm their homes, etc.

Mostly, thank you for saving California and Californians and keeping them ticking, whether you realize it or not. With those high tax rates on a gallon of gas, they're paying out the rear end as it is. Imagine if a barrel of crude oil were substantially higher. Less supply, same or increasing demand...

Sincerely,
Common Sense in Kentucky

That got me going about the similarities between Saudi Arabia and Texas...more than you might think....first, they have a similar shape and size.......both have Vast "dead zones".......barren west Texas, Big bend country, and some of the more barren parts of the panhandle, while saudi has its barren desert zones.....both are booming economically, and both have close to the same population......both are hot as hell, though Saudi is a tad hotter...both have as main claim to fame oil, and both rely on it as a main mover per their economies, though obviously Texas is far more diversified......

Per the muslim ban on pork, you will not be seeing many BBQ places there in the near future, while Texas lives on them.....

However, both are big on vigilante justice, and perform a fair share of public executions.......

Any other similarities between Saudi and Texas? Oh yeah, both are very religious, and hard-core fundamentalist in their own way......xcept for Joel
Osteen, who is Tony Robbns in disguise....

So, should Yexas act on its succees clause in its constitution, and dump the US to join OPEC?

I was stationed in Saudi Arabia and I'll take "barren" West Texas ANYTIME over Saudi!
