I am needing to get an ID card for my 16 year old son who does not yet drive but just got a job.

I looked over the Texas DPS website and it says that "school records" can be used as supporting docs for the purpose of obtaining an ID.

I'm wondering if anyone here knows exactly what they mean by "school records"? Would this be a report card or something else? It's kind of vague and if I can find something here at the house vs. messing with his school's office people to get it then I'd rather do just that.

TIA

With my son, I used his birth certificate and SS card. You have to have a certified copy of the bc, unless you have the original.

I don't know exactly what counts as a school record, but I would think a current report card would be considered as such. What other "school" record would there be?

Well I dunno, but judging from the fifteen-freakin-jillion forms I have to fill out each year there had better be some!

Thanks y'all!

Thumbs up School Records as supporting documentation for I.D.

My children obtained their Texas I.D. cards from the local DMV and the supporting school documents asked of me was their School Photo I.D. card.

I would think their school photo ID card would be sufficient. Ask them if that is all you need.

I would hope they'd figured it out by now, since the "boy" is now at least 21! OP was back in 2008!
