The cities of Dallas, Austin, and Houston are all high growth metropolitan areas, however, in your opnion which of these cities would you considered to be the most overhyped or overrated in terms of living, working, and playing?

Austin by far, no slam on Austin but it's not all that great JMHO. I'll take Dallas and Houston over Austin anyday.

Yessir! I will take Dallas period. Done. As far as overrated, I do not know but I am not voting for Dallas.

Even with my living as close to Austin as I do, I will definitely say it's overhyped. (Even though I do love living here), but I also disagree that it's the " Be all, end all City in Texas and all other places in Texas pale in comparison".

Austin no kidding. Here is how you can tell:

Look where all the Californians are moving!

Austin for sure. Next would be Dallas, but a far second. I actually think Houston is the most underrated (not necessarily in this forum, but in general)

Austin residents take themselves way too seriously.

Oklahoma is another hot spot for Californians to be moving to, which remains such a mystery to me.

Well, it certainly wouldn't be Houston as Houston doesn't get much love from non-Houstonians.

Dallas seems to evoke a mostly neutral response.

So I would vote for Austin for most over-hyped Texas city...I really like Austin but it has its pros and cons just like any other city.

I do take back that comment I made and I know that it is not such a mystery to me. They just want to relocate here to have a better life because I know that living in California must be hard. To the Californians, I respect you guys, I hope I did not offend you, and I hope you like Oklahoma. I am just an Oklahoman boy longing to leave Oklahoma for Texas. OK, I will shut up because this post is way off topic. Sorry, once again.
