There aren't many "gay friendly" areas in Texas outside of the larger cities. I think "gay tolerant" would be a better term.

My partner and I live outside of Houston near Champions Forest. There are many gay couples here and our neighbors are very friendly to us. Other friendly areas around Houston: Spring, Kingwood, Clear Lake, parts of Katy and Cypress.

I've found the inherent politeness and hesitancy to interfere in other people's lives to be more prevalent. Even if people don't approve, I think most people in Texas would just simply choose not to interact rather than be rude or outright hostile.

Not according to the 2008 election results. Harris county barely went Democrat with 50.5% majority while Dallas county was 57.5%. Historically Houston may have been slightly more liberal if at all. That has changed now and is obviously reflected in election numbers. So Houston isn't more liberal than Dallas. Get current.

Um, politicians "marching with them" is usually for visibility and votes. No offense, but I don't think that most straight people would relish marching around with dudes dressed up like nuns or wearing nothing but a G-string while dancing on floats. There's an ulterior motive for doing so.

Texans have an independent and live-and-let-live nature, for the most part. I'd never "march with them" but I'd easily vote for a qualified gay or transgendered candidate if he or she was the best choice for a job. That's the important thing.

Democrat does not equate to being liberal. Many vote dem because they like the welfare system and other platforms that are not exactly liberal. Houston overall has a little more of a liberal vibe to it, I think most would agree

Any of the major cities (ex. Houston, DFW, Austin, San Antonio) would work.

Galveston is starting to become the Key West of Texas in regards to being gay friendly.
