I'm considering relocating to the Gulf Coast area. I'm a single woman in my mid-40's. I am looking for an area that is mid-life single friendly where I can feel safe and meet other single adults. I don't have children so living in an area primarily geared toward families in not desirable. My interests are biking, hiking (with my dog), evenings in coffee shops and book stores, live theatre, etc.

Can anyone suggest communities I may be interested in?

Corpus Christi is a great place to live. It's got all the culture and amenities of a big city without all the hassle. Plus it's an outdoor lovers paradise and very dog friendly. And if it's not right for you, there are a handful of great smaller communities that have an eclectic artsy vibe like Port Aransas or Rockport. You should check out the area.

Corpus Christi has been an area I've read about. I'm considering a job in the Bay City area. Is that too far to commute? I've looked at maps but things never appear as they really are.

Bay City is really far. I think it's closer to Houston.

If I had a job offer in the Bay City area, I would probably choose to live in Lake Jackson; that's about 45 minutes to the east of Bay City. That being said, if small-town living is your thing, you might want to look into something closer to your job.
