Does anyone know when the tax-free shopping weekend is? I need some new stuff but have been holding off buying to save on the taxes.

I think last year it was the third weekend in August, I'm looking forward to it!

A google search shows it to be August 21 to August 23 so this year, it's actually the 4th weekend in August.

I have always thought the tax free weekend was overhyped, as many stores run much better clothing sales before and after. Really, would anyone get excited if a store advertised an 8% off sale?

However, this year many school supplies are included, and that is a better value, at least until the stores learn to adjust their prices.

I would never shop on those days because of the crowds. It would be like holiday shopping, something I never do anymore and never will. I think it's too hyped as well. Unless there are terrific sales going on, 8% amounts to very little in savings. It's even less than 8% in some parts of the state. Where I am, it's 8.75%.

Tax free weekend is a joke. Saving 8% is not worth dealing with the crowds.
