If I HAD to move back to the Golden Triangle area, I'd live in Beaumont. I grew up in Silsbee, and if a small backwards town is what you're looking for, Silsbee would be your winner. Lumberton isn't bad, but I don't like all the racism that I always found there. Beaumont, if you pick the right areas, is the best choice for the area.

Bridge City, Lumberton, Evadale and Hamshire-Fannett are some of my favorite areas. Excellent schools and close enough to city without being in it. Housing options in this area are incredible right now.
Best of luck on the move!

Hello everyone,

I realize this is an old thread. I am still hoping for some responses. If all goes as planned I should be moving to Beaumont in the next couple of weeks. I have a job lined up down there and I have rented a house. All without going to Beaumont once. Needless to say this is a bit scary. I understand that rental homes don't come with appliances. Is there a good place to buy one (even used) so I don't have to move mine all the way from Minnesota?

Look up Conns. Its an appliance store and they also do rentals. It is headquartered in Beaumont and is a rather large chain.

Did you ask if it came with any appliances? Sometimes they do.

Locals colloquially call it 'fruit city.' Nowadays it lives up to the name.

Chet Garner on the daytripper sure made Beaumont look good on his trip there but they are one of his sponsors.

Outstanding suggestion. This online classified service is awesome !

rep !

Conns Appliance customer service is poor. I was a faithful customer for 20+ years when they were smaller ... had bad experiences and they lost my faithful customer following.. They are essentially a big box store whose sales staff work off commission.
