NO!! It really is one of my favorite drives. I love that country (it's where I grew up)...you can see forever, and all of the mountain ranges (far off, but pretty) from El Paso to Fort Stockton.

I have always enjoyed it; no sarcasm.

Other people think that it's a desolate bunch of nothing, but not I.

The Davis Mountains--and most of the ranges between El Paso and Fort Stockton were covered with snow Dec 24th.

But the Davis Mts were the best! I had never seen them with snow......

I'd say Pecos on I-20 and Bakersfield on I-10, though you could say that the dividing line between arid and semiarid is at Van Horn.

From someone who lives in East Texas. Panhandle looks like a desert to me. It may not be to you. It is indeed prairie and farmland.

Prairie, by definition, is not desert. There is a clear difference between grassland and desert, so it's not really a subjective thing.
