I moved to San Antonio and we were wondering what it was like in San Marcos? Is that considered Austin? Seems like there is more of a music/artsy scene in San Marcos...any comments would be helpful! Thanks!

Default San Marcos ...

San Marcos is a small college town that is officially in the Austin metro area but which is actually just a little farther from San Antonio than it is from Austin. San Marcos is definitely a "college" town. During the school year, nearly half the city's population will be students at Texas State University. Of course, the economy of the city is centered around the university.

San Marcos is an attractive city, located on the edge of the Texas Hill Country. In fact, Texas State is situated in a fairly hilly section of the city. There is also a beautiful, clear, refreshing spring-fed river that runs through the center of the city and serves as a popular recreational attraction (tubing, swimming, etc.)
