I'm taking the Greyhound bus from NYC to Toronto in beginning of August. I will take the bus Saturday evening and arrive in Toronto Monday morning. I will stay one night at Isabella Hotel & Suites on Sherbourne Street which is in Downtown Toronto (?).
Next day I will take a sightseeing day-trip bus to Niagara Falls and come back to Toronto late afternoon. Later in the evening I will take the bus back home to NYC.
Will this be a good trip? What are top sights to see & do in Toronto? I really want to see the CN Tower and take picture of the skyline, as well as just walk around Downtown.
How is that hotel I will be staying at, and the area? I hope it is safe and close to sightseeing. Is it safe to bring my iPad with me for camera picture and to contact my family if necessary?
I've been to Montreal once before, but never to Ontario and I cannot wait to visit! Countdown
Hmmm. Seems a long way to come for such a short stay. Toronto is a large city with lots to see and do (read through some of the threads in this forum for ideas on what to see and do while you're here), but it sounds like you're only going to have about a day in the city. It also sounds pretty exhausting. Having taken the Greyhound to NYC, I can't attest to the trip's length and how tired I was at the end of it. At least I had ten days in the city to recover before I had to get on the bus again. Sounds like you will only have two days to recover, and one of those days will be spent on a bus-tour of Niagara Falls.
All that considered, you should keep your Toronto itinerary short and sweet. There was a thread not long ago started by another New Yorker who was coming to the city for one day and wanted to know what to do. You should look for the thread and read some of the responses for ideas on what you can do during the short time you'll have here.
You've made 6 posts in under 20 minutes so I'm not sure how serious you are. The bus trip should be about 12 hours not the 24+ in your post. To me its still too much time travelling for less than a day in Toronto.
Did not receive any good response. How is the area where I am staying at?
Yes, Isabella Hotel & Suites is pretty centrally located:
- You are very close to subway stations (Sherbourne Station is a 5 min walk)
- You are walking distance from Yorkville (pretty cool area explore)

Thank you. Is it safe place too? Can I walk to CN tower and near the lake?
I need to purchase a map.
Yes it's safe. You can buy a map once you are here. In the mean time, study online maps like Google and Bing to get a general idea of the area.
Ok. I'll rather buy a book from the U.S. so I could use it and then return it back again
My local library has travel book of Montreal, but not on Toronto unfortunately.
Do fast food places accept US dollars, or should I exchange to Canadian dollar?

Some fast food places (e.g. Tim Hortons) might accept USD, but you will create a lot of commotion and **** off people standing in line behind you. Plus you will get the change back in CAD. So your best bet is to change currency at your bank or use a credit card.

In Montreal they accepted US dollar everywhere, and I got CAD back as return.
