Can anyone recommend a good GP?

What I am looking for:
- qualified/experienced
- gives a damn about patients
- has a good network of referrals
- preferably located close to downtown area
- preferably with minimally decent bedside manners

I am on OHIP.

Thanks!

I've been through this process myself recently as my doctor retired and I needed to find another one. Let me tell you, its not easy! Finding a Dr. that's taking new patients is like the proverbial needle in a haystack.

You could start by searching | Find a Doctor | Public Information & Services | College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario

Although the best way is by spreading the word amongst friends, colleagues and by popping into Medical Centres/Clinics and enquiring there.

Happy hunting!

Women`s College Hospital has a Family Practice Unit, that has been my medical care facility for over 10 years. They cover all ages, infants to the elderly. you will have your own MD, who sees you each time you have an appointment. They have 5 teams, each has 6 MD s with a resident who works with each specific MD.

The Family Practice unit has direct access to ALL of the departments in the hospital. The motto of WC is ..... We are the hospital that keeps you OUT of the hospital. Because WC is a member of the University Health Network, you will have access to services at Toronto General, Mount Sinai, Princess Margaret Cancer Institute, Sick Kids, Toronto Western , and Toronto Rehab. ALL of them are linked together on a central patient information system., If I have a lab test, the results are automatically sent to my MD and I get the report on my e mail too... at home. All of the medical information is computer based.

If I am referred to a specialist at TGH my entire history is at the fingertips of that MD, when I walk into their office. On the UHN computer system.

Family Practice is miles ahead of a walk in clinic. Check it out.
