Congrats.

Try being a White young male in Toronto, looking for a job to start his place in the world. I have crazy amounts of Experience in the Machine Op/Manufacturing Industry, been working since I was 14 full-time up-north for a Lumber Mill that shut down last year, now being forced like most to move too the City in hopes of potential work, been here since Decemeber and haven't found anything worth putting up with Toronto's bul****.

22 and trying to pay for rent, hydro, school programs, food, transport, health/dental and a god damn cell-phone. At the moment I work two-dead end jobs just to try and get by.

I have come to the realization that Toronto just sucks a big one. So I'm just saving enough cash to get the hell out and go anywhere else.

I have been looking for a job,for a long time. I also came from Rhode Island USA and I have canadian experience for six months, with Car Star after I got laid off from there. Its been a nightmare for me to find an employer who want to hire me.In my situation I'm PR in Canada and although, I can not find a job,I been in asseessments and interviews, not with the small companies though, but with the big ones like: National Steel Car,Lake side Steel,US Steel,Dafasco steel Co.Aim for the big companies you have a better chance and oportunities with them .Now I'm applying for Second Carrer since I have been laid, off in canada this is a free grant's program here if get laid off from a company. good luck Tom

You mean CANADIAN English? There's virtually little difference!

Things have improved in Toronto. The recession is over. Greater than 100,000 jobs exist on the the Toronto job boards now ( see Job Bank – City of Toronto Jobs ). It is true that a lot of Toronto Jobs are now in retail. The manufacturing sector has been bleeding jobs to India and China. The middle class has suffered. Even other countries in America such as Mexico have taken manufacturing jobs.
We can all get jobs in Toronto. We just need to be flexible on salary demands and the type of job we take. Its a great city especially the 905 suburbs.

Good luck to all!

Teehee! Oh don't do what they did... Great movie by the way.

My brother in law in Northern Quebec has been working for sawmills pretty much like you forever.

You will find something in a while, it's not easy but you may find something you didn't think you were suited for be just the ticket, like it and stick to it for a good long time. Good luck my friend!
