Toronto, Canada (AHN) - A Toronto woman is currently in jail for being a witch.


The charge of practicing witchcraft goes back to 1892 in Canada's Criminal Code. The charges were filed against Vishwantee Persaud, 36, in November, according to reports. On top of that she also faces fraud charges.

If you read the article linked to all the way to the bottom, you'll see that it says that the witchcraft law is directed against those who fake mystical powers. In other words, a more specific kind of fraud statute.
