Yeah? Well, good for you. I hope you prove me wrong.
When one of those offers comes through with some actual cash...
be sure to let us know how much. OK? Thanks.
I came here looking for advice on pricing the car, but don't think the specifc details of the final financial transaction is any of your concern. Kind of rude to ask don't you think? Manners are still valued here in 2011.
Thanks to all the technical folks who gave sound advice. I appreciate your input.
What exactly is the car doing? If the clutch itself is worn out, you can start the car and put it in gear, but when you let the clutch out, it does not go. This sort of thing does not normally strike like a bolt from the blue, typically you will drive about 1000 miles between the first time you can notice the clutch slipping, and when it won't move the car at all in first gear.
Now, if you push the clutch pedal down and it won't go into gear, grinds if you try to put it in gear, this is probably just the clutch slave cylinder (or maybe master cylinder) and that's not a hard or expensive fix.
You rust-belt nay-sayers who think any car over 10 years old is a rusty bucket of bolts - that's only true in Saltville where you live. In God's country, a car can still be quite usable when it's 30 or 40 years old.
You know, I wasn't going to post specifics about the sale, but you were all very helpful and I wanted to share with you how things turned out. I listed the car on Criag's list and got a lot of interest. In the end I sold it for $800 cash in hand.

Thanks again for all your help!
Good deal. It sounds like you are happy and the guy with a new car is happy... Great deal for both.
