They said they are going to new deliveries next week. So, we assumed they are coming from Toyota. They never used terms like locate or that we are getting it from another dealer. If so, we would 've been mentally prepared.
Mentally prepared because a car has 86 miles on it?
arun: Think of it this way. Would you have rather driven up to NH yourself to take delivery of the car with 30 miles on the odometer, then drive it 50+ miles back down to Natick? I think Bernardi did you a favor by transporting it for you for free. Just make sure they refilled the gas tank!
Hi,
We put down a deposit for a 2015 Corolla LE Eco with a toyota dealer in framingham ma. The car wasn't available the day we negotiated the price and put down a deposit. They called us mon eve to say that the car was @ the dealer. We went yesterday and long story short found that the car had 86miles on it. Dealer says they got the car from another dealer in NH and so that's the reason it shows 86mi. If we want a car with very few miles then we need to wait 4 weeks to get it.
We checked with other dealers on the out-the-door price offered by this dealer ($16.7k). No one is even coming close. I would like to hear opinions on how do we deal with this situation. If you've been or if you were in a similar situation, how did/would you make the best of it (ie., some additional concessions from the dealer). Do you see any red flags that we should ponder/question them before we take delivery.
You're getting a good deal and not having to wait a month. If 86 miles bothers you that much, walk away and pay more to wait for a "lower" mileage car.
I received my new van with around 200 miles on it, delivered to CT from NH. The low price was more important to me than the mileage.
I am sure more than 5 people have purchased new cars but I have yet to see anyone mention the term "DX"; dealer exchange. I have had lots of cars pulled up to see like that and bought a truck with ~70 miles on it once. Others have had 100s of miles as they were a previous year's model and $5K less than the brand new one with the same options. Trucks are funny like that. That little Corolla will most likely go 200K - what is 86 miles? Look it over but don't feel slighted. You bought a car like everyone else does.
Go test drive some Corvettes, Mustangs and Camaros this month and put some demo miles on them. You can get your 86 miles back in that manner.
