Hi,
We put down a deposit for a 2015 Corolla LE Eco with a toyota dealer in framingham (you know who :-) ). The car wasn't available the day we negotiated the price and put down a deposit. They called us mon eve to say that the car was @ the dealer. We went yesterday and long story short found that the car had 86miles on it. Dealer says they got the car from another dealer in NH and so that's the reason it shows 86mi. If we want a car with very few miles then we need to wait 4 weeks to get it.
We checked with other dealers on the out-the-door price offered by this dealer ($16.7k). No one is even coming close. I would like to hear opinions on how do we deal with this situation. If you've been or if you were in a similar situation, how did/would you make the best of it (ie., some additional concessions from the dealer).

I really don't think this is a big deal at all. My new car had about 200 miles on it. It was likely much cheaper to drive the Corolla down than truck it in. What are you worried about?

Its only 86 miles!!!
Sheesh, if you wanted to be compensated at the state rate for both gas and wear and tear, that is $38.70. You going to make an issue over less than $40 on a five figure car?
Make sure the car is washed and you get a full tank of gas. The one thing I would do is do a complete walk-around and make sure there are no rock chips or anything like that on the hood. If all looks good, take delivery and enjoy the new car.
Sounds like this is your first car buying experience. 86 miles is nothing, considering it came from a dealer in NH. That means it had something like 30 miles on it which is pretty damn new. Most new cars that you buy off a lot will have ~100 miles on them due to multiple test drives. Looks like this one only had a couple test drives at most. With that being said, I waited 4 months for my last car to be built to order and shipped from Germany and it still came with 20 miles on the odometer!
I like Bernardi Toyota and Honda - the salesmen seem honest there. I've had 2 bad experiences at Bernardi Audi though.

I've never been in such a situation. So, I don't even know if I've to worried about anything
No big deal at all. If I wanted a car in Austin that was available only via a dealer transfer from San Antonio it would have an extra 90 miles on it unless it was shipped on a truck.

Did you know that City Data has an excellent automobile forum? There are really great, experienced (including mechanics, etc.) people who post there. I think you ought to post this there. Best wishes.

Seriously?
I re-read my own question & see why you got so aggravated . I'm not looking to reduce the price by ~$40 but if I'm giving them a 5-figure then I don't want to be taken for a ride.
The car is clean..tires are new (well, 86mi new )..inside is clean..controls that we use on a daily basis (like indicators) works fine.
