Very tragic that someone died in this accident. It involved Jenner's Cadillac Escalade rear ending what looks like a white Lexus LS (the biggest model car they make), which caused it to veer into the path of a Hummer. The Hummer sustained severe front end damage, but the driver survived. The Lexus driver was killed on impact apparently. The Lexus vehicles are very reliable (I know because I've owned one for 12 years now). What concerns me though, is the safety of these vehicles in collisions such as this one. Are Lexus vehicles safe? That's the question. I doubt that such a collision with a BMW 7-series would've killed the driver. Your thoughts?

Any car that gets T-Boned by a large and heavy vehicle like a Hummer going at a decent speed will sustain incredible damage and the person in that unfortunate seat will probably die. I doubt a 7-series would have saved the driver.

I don't think a 7 series would have fared any better under the same circumstances.

Correct. 7 series, S class, A8, Equus, it doesn't matter. Cars are built to a very high impact standard these days but at the core of it all you're still running into the same basic problem of physics.

At one time the LS was one of the top rated cars in safet and reliability. Unsure how much has changed but still.

Additionally, it is possible that the Lexus driver wasn't wearing her seatbelt. If you are not properly restrained, the airbags can't properly do their job of protecting you from the impact.

If the coverage of this case continues, I expect that the authorities will eventually reveal whether the woman was using her seatbelt--or not.

The Lexus driver was elderly. I think 70s. Age could be a factor. The impact could of broken her neck

I was mistaken, the car wasn't T-Boned, it was hit almost head on probably at high speeds. I still don't believe any other car would have protected her any better.
