Absolutely do not understand the appeal of this floating roof trend (saw it on the 2016 Maxima too and thought it really ruined the continuity of the lines). Front grille is hideously big and awkward looking too.
Interior on the other hand, looks amazing...modern yet understated and simplistic
I saw that posted on Autoblog this morning. That is an absolutely horrible, awful, putrid, disgusting, shameful, trashy, fugly grille. Toyota/Lexus designers have been off their rockers for awhile now, and this design will land them in straightjackets. Whoever buys this is even worse than the artists who penned it.
The first thing that I notice obviously is the front grille, but speaking as someone that literally bought a '15 RX last month, I was able to get the clean, standard grille -- you can get the crazy looking one by upgrading to a sports appearance package or going up to F sport.
The while vehicle displayed in the article is a F sport, so no wonder why the crazy grille. I wonder if it will be more of the standard look from the front that we are used to seeing on the regular 16 RX model. I hope so!
They are discounting the '15s heavily right now in anticipation. I received a total of 20% in MSRP discounts on my lease when I bought last month with little to no negotiation. I'll keep my fingers crossed that the '18s are a bit more refined, or else I might end up having to buy out my lease at the end XD
As a younger buyer though, honestly if I was looking for a sportier looking SUV, the NX would definitely be my pick...not the RX.
I don't care for it, i'd like to see it in person. I have been delaying a new purchase because none of the cars these days make me feel how my RX did back in the day (it is now 11 years old).
Lexus has been getting quite a bit of feedback about the grill the last couple of years, a lot of it negative which makes me a little surprised they decided to double down and make it even more prominent. I still like Lexus overall, but I'd have to decide to ignore the front grill before buying one.
