I wasn't sure myself, and than I test drove one, and bought one.
The looks are still iffy to me to a degree, but I love it. The safety features, mpg, and reliability had me sold.

Perhaps that is an example of how Asian styling tastes differ from western preferences.

I appreciate Corolla being around for 50 years. Amazing, isn't it. Great car.
But what the iff is wrong with Toyota designers?
Look at this front. It's like someone cut it off a different car and glued onto Corolla.
The Lexus is starting to grow on me but I can see the similarities to the newer Toyotas. I thought the wide mouth bass look came from Ford's look with the Maserati influence
