Hi All,
The Automotive forum has been such a great deal of help to me in the past, from the beginning of my ownership with my Scion and so on. Well, here I am again. The Scion (xB 2006) has been running great since I first purchased it with 129,000 miles. It currently has just over 145,000 and over time I've had a few oil changes, replaced a few tires, and had new brake pads on all 4.
The brakes were done when I started hearing a squeaking noise when braking. Well, that was only a couple months ago and strange thing about it is now I'm starting to hear a strong cranking/winding sound when I brake. The original squeaking noise did go away once the pads were changed and for a little while there were no noises, then this new cranking noise started probably within the past month.
By the way, with new brake pads should the brakes feel brand new? I have noticed that there is still a little bit of a give from the time that I brake until the car comes to a complete stop.
Of course I can just take it to a shop and ask them, but I wanted to check with some of your more savvy and experienced folks before I get the run around by the guy at the shop who's more concerned about sales numbers
(unfortunately this has been the more common experience for me)...
