has Lexus gone downhill?

As long as your brakes work, I don't see the problem.

Is there some documented reason that shows this is cost effective to owners or is it merely designed to help dealer cover high cost facilities etc? This appears to be the downside to dealer and owners if they bite for the additional service to help out the dealer as this feels to me.
I'd expect that if you can afford an LS then you have enough backbone to tell the dealer exactly what service you are expecting. I've never had a Lexus dealer try to upset me on anything. Remember - in this case they work for you, not the other way around.

I would say Lexus has tried to economize the brand a little bit to appeal to a broader customer base.

Well after taking a long time to research and think about what my next ride will be, I've decided to stick with Lexus. I already have a IS250 and I bought it brand new and have had it for 7 years and haven't needed any major repairs on it.

First I was set on getting a MB GLE but all the horror stories I continue to hear about MB just turned me off. Next I was for sure set on the Porsche Cayenne but the recall of the break peddle and other issues I found during my research turned me off. BMW is not an option as I'm not a BMW person, so the only option I was left with is to get another Lexus.

What turned me off from Lexus is the new grill design but I don't really think it's that bad now especially since I love everything else about the RX.

So the new RX it is and I'll get my new wheels next month finally after much consideration but I know what I'm getting with Lexus, other brands not so much.

I was the same way...I drove a Subaru WRX for 13 years (And an SC300 prior to that). Last Friday I traded the Suby for a 2016 RX 350 F Sport. So far I'm loving it. Fit and finish is top notch. The overabundance of technology at my fingertips is a nice touch and while it'll never pull in 2nd gear like my turbo subaru, it's a nice compromise when I put it into Sport+ mode.

Oh that's so great to hear! I'm getting the sport as well and I haven't heard anything bad about the RX and trust me I've searched lol.

Congrats on your RX! I'm signing paperwork for my RX Friday.
