1. Orlando, FL - it was pretty much what I expected, just not my kind of place (and I'm not into amusement parks or Disney). The best thing about Orlando for me was seeing Cirque Du Soleil - wonderful show
2. Honolulu, HI - I wasn't expecting paradise in a city - not even in Hawaii - and I love city travel - but Honolulu had crappy city planning and a look/vibe that totally turned me off. However, there were a number of highlights nearby: terrific snorkeling, Pearl Harbor, spectacular drive up the coast to the North Shore of Oahu.
Except for the 5-cent cup of coffee, Wall Drugs in Wall, South Dakota is pretty overrated.
Also, commercial jungle tours in the Amazon are disappointing. One could easily be recreated in Florida, that would be identical in every respect, except in Florida you'd see a lot more wildlife. If you're really lucky, you can find some local who will take you into the real jungle, but any touted tours are just boring hops from one pre-arranged amenity to another in a boat full of catered snacks. The only chance of seeing any wildlife at all is if you arrange to go along with some poachers, but that would be a trip of a couple of weeks, hard work and high risk. Otherwise, the only possibility for advanture is if the tour boat capsizes in a river full of piranhas. Just kidding. You can swim in the jungle rivers, and then catch piranhas in the same place for supper. But you won't have to, because the tour operator will bring along baloney sandwiches.
The whole state of Florida is the most overrated tourist spot, but most people don't realize that until they get all the way to Key West, and then say "Is that it?"

Miami is a great place to live, that being said I don't like going north or south of Miami
I don't really care for long plane or car rides unless it is really worth it. So I figure I'd save myself some time and ask people that have been to tourist spots and thought they were extremely overrated. Any off the top of your head?
Grand Canyon
Monument Valley
Colorado (all of it except *maybe* San Luis Valley)
Louisville, Ky
Orlando, Florida
We should, I think, restrict "tourist spots" to places that want to be tourist spots. Key West, in my opinion, is not a 'tourist spot', it is a place where people have chosen to live because there is a lifestyle there that suits them. Similarly, the French Quarter. The great majority of people in Key West and the Quarter, Nantucket, Charleston, and other places, went there specifically because it was an attractive place for them to live, and it wouldn't bother them a bit if not a single tourist showed up.
