In december I'm planning a trip on the east cost of the us, starting in Atlanta, and driving up to Boston
Which places I really can't miss? My trip is taking about to 20 days, so hopefully I'll get to see a lot of new places (the only city I've been in the east coast is NYC)
Also, do you consider dangerous driving, because of the weather? I'm going by the end of december, and I'm brazilian, so I don't have many skills for driving in snowy weather.
Thank y'all!
I would definitely do a rental car rather than take your personal car up into the salty Yankee roads, and the almost inevitable dents. That's assuming you really have to/want to drive from Atlanta to Boston in December...(let me guess, Christmas break?)
Not quite sure why you would do this particular trip in December. For a December road trip, why not FL? For a December trip to Boston, Bob's your uncle and he flies for Air Tran or Delta. Or even Amtrak.
I would not wish Boston in the snow on my worst enemy...most car-hostile city in the US, where driving is a contact sport...I'll pass.
Don't get me wrong, there is A LOT to see and do all along this route, it's just that December isn't the time to see it and do it IMHO.

20 days? Wow. From Atlanta I'd head south on I-85 to Montgomery. Spend an a few hours there. Then head I-65 south to Hwy 113...check out the Emerald Shores near Pensacola, FL.
Then head to Disney, go to Miami. .... anywhere you want.
What I'm saying is 20 days can get you ALL across America...even Alaska if you want. Just take out the USA map and plot where you want to go. It takes about 48 hrs to drive coast to coast (nonstop) so you can see the US in 20 days.
Go to Jersey! No matter where in the country we move to, we always find people with ties to Jersey. It's just that cool! We have a ton of movies based in Jersey, an entire very popular HBO show and some of the best food in the nation.
If nothing more, go to Rutt's Hut for a hot dog or breakfast at a Jersey diner (Summit Diner, 6 Brothers and Tick Tock come to mind). Jersey rocks, I wouldn't miss it!
But here's a sample trip you (verify on google maps)
Highway wise: I85-Charlotte-I85-I95-Ricmond-I64W for Charlottesville (about 1.5 hrs)- I64E for Williamsburg-Norfolk/VA Beach-13N for scenic drive-at end of bay bridge turn around and come back to I64W-I95-Frederickburg for overnight-I95-Washington DC-I95-I83-Lancaster-I83-Hershey-I76-Philadelphia-I95-I276-New Jersey Turnpike-NYC-495-Port Jefferson,NY-Take ferry to Connecticut-I95-I195-25-6-Cape Cod-Turnaround on 6 and connect to 3N-Boston
Cape Cod in the winter? What for? There's really nothing to see or do that you can't see or do elsewhere. Seems to me a lot out of the way for nothing. Especially since Cape Cod in the summer isn't even a draw.

OMG OMG Rutt's Hut is still there? I haven't been since the 60s.

It sure is! I grew up in Clifton, so I have fond memories of the place! Though, I didn't start going there until 1991! I go back home several times a year and always make it a point to stop there. They're a lot more popular now, thanks to all the food shows featuring them. Here's a picture of a ripper I took on my last trip there in October. Nothing beats that relish!
