You can bring your car from Ireland to England. Lots of ferries to choose from. Park up on the ferry, drive off when you reach the other side. Very common.
Or London to Paris... on the ferry....I did it lots of times when we were in London for trade shows and vineyard visits....
Thank you everyone for the suggestions but we have made a decision! We have chosen to visit Paris and London in May or June 2012. Croatia is great if you like water sports along the Adriatic or a pretty laid back area.
I travel to Croatia annually but I have friends who live there and I'm of Croatian heritage.
I'd go with the suggestion of Paris and Rome for a two-week trip.
Travel by ICE train.

As you look like you are into museums/galleries The Natural History Museum in London is fabulous. You can also go to the Tate Britain and get their boat down the Thames to the Tate Modern. Both Art Galleries.
London Eye - book the tickets online and save the queue.
Stonehenge - wouldn't be my choice. Its a lot smaller than you think it will be and the last time I went you had to view it from quite a distance.... a long way for a disappointment - unless you are REALLY into the history of it.
I would jump n the train to Brighton ( about an hour) and have a day at the seaside and go to Brighton Pavillion...
Try to avoid when the UK schools will be on holiday someone on the UK board may be able to help with this.

no, you should see Sylvania and Freedonia especially in the springtime. Make sure to allocate time for the Pinky Opera House, Museum of War and the Statue of Marx.

That's a good time to visit, though the week beginning the last Monday in May is school holidays so a lot of things will be crowded. Also, at that time next year there will be stuff going on (and an extra public holiday) to celebrate the Queen's 60-year jubilee which may or may not interest you. I don't think Buckingham Palace is open that time of year, but if you want to visit a palace/castle then Windsor Castle or Hampton Court Palace are nearby. The other things sound OK. I personally wouldn't bother going to Stonehenge - it's not that close to London and you can't get up close to it anyway.
