My favorite mountains are the Cascades. I like the way they just kind of stand alone and of course I love the vegetation that exists because they are almost coastal in nature. One day my wife and I were headed down Interstate 5 heading from Canada to California. I said, "I'm going to keep a lookout for when I first spot Mt. Shasta and then measure how far away I have been able to see it. Now, it was probably the clearest day I have ever seen. It's really hard to believe but from where I first spotted it to right beside it was 300 miles. Just amazing.

One day we walked right up to almost the very top of Mt. Hood, another amazing mountain. One of the highlights of my entire life was taking a helocopter ride all around and almost right in to the caldera of Mt. St. Helens. Just a mind blowing experience to be sure.

One snowy and cold night we hit an avalanche closed interstate just outside Seattle. We struck off across country and ended up driving through a pass through Mt. Rainer on a very narrow secondary road. WE were driving a rig pulling 53 ft. trailer. Yep we are nuts for sure. when we finally got stopped for the night it snowed a foot in 10 minutes.

What can I say about My Garabaldi just an hour north of Vancouver. t was a great location for the games in 2010
