It depend son the airport. In Charlotte, yes, that little could cause major delays. In Syracuse they'd laugh themselves silly at the notion of a delay for a couple inches of snow.
That said, the entire system can back up. Planes can't fly without crews. Crews have a limited number of hours they can legally work without rest, so even if they are in the airport, they might not be able to staff the flight because they'd go over the legal limit. There's so much more to it than the weather outside at your airport.
In the UK a 'flake' or two of snow is enough to grind the whole country to a halt! You would be lucky if the airport is even open let alone suffer a delayed flight!!
Anyone have any thoughts about some "light snow" in the forecast for Newark NJ tomorrow morning? Do you think a flight scheduled between 8am and 10am might be delayed?
Also, another question is this. Do you think a flight would leave a bit EARLY?
I have a friend who is leaving Newark tomorrow morning and we are not sure if the flight will go on time or not. Any thoughts?
Thanks guys.
