Imagine you just spent two weeks in a couple of completely foreign countries/cities and now you just returned to your home city/town.

There are usually two types of people.

The first type upon seeing all the things familiar, hearing their own language, usually feel relieved and happy. Everything looks so familiar, no need to struggle finding places, or change lodging every couple of nights, or wonder if people on the streets speak English or not, or have to sleep in the hotel any more.

The second type people feel bored or even gloomy being back for a week. The same old streets, buildings, bosses and coworkers. Nothing is exciting and nothing is new to them. You return to your routine life, doing the stuff you do every day with no much interesting looking forward to.

Which type are you?
I am definitely the second type. The idea of "being home" doesn't appeal to me that much.

I'm the first type. I love going away, and I love coming back home.

I love traveling but enjoy the comforts of home when I return. This is usually because I am always active on my trips and constantly on the go to see and experience the area I'm visiting ... When I'm at home, I can relax. Yeah ... I do feel disappointed when the trip is over but it is nice to have your familiar place to return to.

I tend to be grumpy and out-of-sorts for awhile because coming home means returning to "real life" (work, stress, bills, etc...).

I would say that puts me in the "type 2" category.

I'm definitely the gloomy type when I return. I'm tired (usually have very active, busy, 2-3 week international trips) and I've missed my animals, but I'm always sad to be back to the grind and the boredom of "real life". I immediately start dreaming of the next trip, and reflecting on the one I just finished through pictures and reading more about the locations I just visited. I miss the food, the different people, the sights...and I miss the ability to talk about my vacation because people only want to hear a smidgen and not all the fun details. While I love my home and it is a comfortable respite from my work life, I enjoy traveling and could easily handle a trip or two per month, if life allowed it!

I used to be "type 2" but in recent years I have become "type 1"!

I'm the second type. I really dislike unpacking and returning to the daily grind.

I used to be the second type, but now the first firmly represents who I am. While I love travel, it's always great to get back to my own bed and neighborhood and food!
