Does it have to be a detached home. We have a Wyndham timeshare and www.extraholidays.com have the same places we stay for weekly rentals. Sometimes I notice that my maintenance cost is more than the weekly rate at some places on that website. I sometimes check on that website before I book with our condo points. Many times nothing is available the week I want to stay. Makes me feel better that I can get the place with my points. It really irritates me to book and then find out I could have had the place for less money just paying outright.
Just one more reason why timeshares make zero financial sense.
I love the Gulf Shores, particularly the area locals affectionately call "Florabama", as in Florida and Alabama. The sand is white, the water is emerald green, the waves are often calm enough for you to lie on a plastic floater, and just ..... be. There are other places in the world with beautiful beaches but none would make me feel at home as much as the Gulf Shores.

When's the best time of year to visit...when it's still warm enough to really enjoy the water?
